On Friday, September 5, the UAE declared a public holiday for workers in the private sector in honor of the Prophet's (PBUH) birthday. The holiday will be combined with the official weekend (Saturday and Sunday), giving most employees a three-day weekend.
The religious event that takes place on 12 Rabi Al Awwal in the Hijri calendar aligns with the holiday.
The United Arab Emirates announced September 5 to be the official day of the national holiday for government personnel. For them, this also means a three-day vacation. In the meantime, Fridays are already off for Sharjah's public sector workers as part of their regular weekends.
Following the non-sighting of the crescent during Rabi Al Awwal on Saturday, August 23, the statement was made. The Prophet's (PBUH) birthday, which comes on 12 Rabi Al Awwal every year, will fall on September 5 as a result of the UAE's Astronomy Center's discovery that the month of Safar would continue 30 days and the third month of the Hijri calendar will start on Monday, August 25.
