The UAE has launched a new initiative aimed at significantly reducing waiting times for the renewal of Emirates IDs and passports. Introduced under the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has unveiled a dedicated service for senior citizens and people of determination.
Called the Taqdeer Package, and developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Community Empowerment, the initiative removes the need for applications or in-person visits, making the renewal process entirely seamless for beneficiaries of social support programmes. Meaning “appreciation,” the package simplifies procedures by allowing ICP to proactively monitor document expiry dates.
Passports and Emirates ID cards approaching expiration will be renewed automatically, printed, and delivered directly to beneficiaries’ homes before they expire. The fully digital system reduces the renewal process from three steps to zero. Launched as part of the UAE’s Year of Community, the initiative highlights the country’s commitment to inclusive, accessible, and people-first public services.
