The UAE Presidential Court has confirmed that Wednesday, February 18, will be the first day of Ramadan in the country after the crescent moon was officially sighted.
In a statement, the Court said the decision followed the announcement of the Moon Sighting Committee for Ramadan 1447 AH, issued by the UAE Council for Fatwa. The committee met in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday evening, the 29th of Shaaban 1447 AH (February 17), and confirmed the sighting of the Ramadan crescent.
As a result, fasting across the UAE will begin on Wednesday, February 18.
