The UAE Public Prosecution has warned about misleading and unlawful content circulating on social media, including videos filmed outside the country but falsely claimed to have taken place in the UAE.
Khalid Al Madhani, Attorney General of the Federal Prosecution for Combating Rumors and Cybercrimes, said authorities recently detected several online posts containing inaccurate or misleading information. The Public Prosecution reminded the public that “information is a responsibility and spreading rumours is a crime,” urging people not to share unverified claims that contradict official announcements.
Al Madhani also advised social media users to rely on trusted and official sources and warned against altering videos or adding misleading audio and falsely linking them to events in the UAE. He stressed that anyone publishing content online must act responsibly and avoid spreading information that could harm the country’s security or stability.
