The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reports that the UAE's May temperature hit a scorching 50.4ºC, the highest since it started recording them in 2003. According to the center, that exceeded the highest temperature of 50.2ºC that was noted in May 2009.
Even before the season starts, the nation has been experiencing higher-than-normal temperatures. With an average daily high of 42.6ºC last month, the UAE experienced its hottest April on record.
Residents were advised by the NMC on Friday to wear suitable clothing, apply sunscreen, keep out of the sun, and drink lots of water in order to stay safe during the heat.
