The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported that on Friday, August 1, temperatures in the United Arab Emirates reached their highest point of the year, reaching a scorching 51.8°C.
At 3 p.m., the temperature in Sweihan, Al Ain, reached this record level, it stated. On May 24, temperatures in Sweihan reached a blistering 51.6°C, far before summer in the UAE reached its zenith.
The Al Mirzam period, which typically lasts from July 29 to August 10 and is regarded as the country's hottest time of year, is predicted to bring even hotter weather.
Extremely hot weather is predicted to persist until August 10 along with severe dry winds, or "samum" in Arabic, which are scorching, dusty, and dry desert winds.
The region experiences extremely dry heat waves at this time, which is also referred to as "Waghrat al-Qayz."
Residents are encouraged to stay indoors during the day and avoid venturing outside during peak hours between sunrise and dusk because of the intense heat.
Some regions of the nation experienced light rain, hail, and high gusts despite the oppressive heat.
