The Ministry of Economy and Tourism has updated its anti-commercial fraud law to crack down on counterfeit goods across the emirates. Under the new rules, markets and warehouses must remove counterfeit or spoiled goods within 24 hours of official notification. Suppliers must also notify retailers within 24 hours and publicly announce recalls within 48 hours.
Cabinet Resolution No. (107) of 2026 requires suppliers to immediately stop selling counterfeit goods once notified by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism. Withdrawals must be publicly announced in Arabic and English within 48 hours, with the period shortened if the goods pose health, safety or environmental risks. If suppliers fail to act, authorities will remove the goods at their expense and warn the public against purchasing or using them.
