The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security has announced that travellers unable to leave the UAE due to recent airspace closures will have their overstay fines waived.
All UAE visas—including visit visas, tourist visas, exit permits and residents who cancelled their residency permits—will be exempt from fines incurred from February 28 onwards. The decision aims to ensure stranded travellers can regularise their status without financial penalties caused by circumstances beyond their control.
The authority said the move reflects the UAE’s humanitarian approach during emergencies, as many travellers have been unable to depart due to cancelled, delayed or diverted flights. Specialised teams at airports and Customer Happiness Centres are also assisting affected passengers.
