The United Arab Emirates announced on April 28 that it will exit the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and OPEC+, effective May 1, 2026, following a review of its production strategy and capacity, ending over 60 years of membership.
The UAE said it will remain a responsible energy supplier, increasing output gradually in line with market demand while supporting global growth and emissions reduction.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to working with partners to develop resources, promote economic diversification, and maintain stable energy markets, while continuing investments across oil, gas, renewables, and low-carbon solutions.
