Abu Dhabi City Municipality launched inspection operations targeting overcrowded housing

Residential crowding is being addressed by the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi through the "Your Home, Your Responsibility" initiative. This program seeks to emphasize how crucial it is to regulate homes and buildings in order to prevent overcrowding and promote a secure living environment that raises standards of living throughout the emirate.

As part of this drive, the Abu Dhabi City Municipality has started inspecting overcrowded dwellings in an effort to make everyone's living space safer and more organized.

Municipal teams have made it clear that increasing awareness is the campaign's main goal rather than imposing fines. This involves warning infractions and, if the crowding continues, enforcing sanctions.

According to the Department, infraction penalties can range from AED 5,000 to AED 1 million.

The program also aims to eradicate the detrimental effects of crowding, which jeopardize public safety and decency, transgress set standards, and run counter to UAE public morality.

Additionally, the campaign seeks to educate tenants on the rules pertaining to the occupancy of residential units and properties. It is advised that tenants stay away from homes with subleasing agreements in order to prevent infractions.
