The UAE has simplified sick leave attestation by allowing hospitals and healthcare facilities to submit applications directly to the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) on behalf of patients and their companions, eliminating the need for patients to apply themselves.
Qualifying requests are automatically forwarded for approval, eliminating the need for a fresh application.
The new process shifts responsibility to healthcare facilities, reducing the effort required from customers while following approved procedures.
The ministry said the changes aim to reduce paperwork, simplify procedures and speed up service delivery, supporting the UAE's Zero Bureaucracy initiative and its goal of providing faster, more efficient government services. Healthcare facilities that issue sick leave certificates can now also handle attestation requests on behalf of patients and their companions, reducing the burden on applicants.
