The United Arab Emirates has launched a new pilot project aimed at reducing airport waiting times through streamlined border checks.
Announced on February 16, the One-Point Air Travellers Project is being trialled with Bahrain. The system allows citizens of both countries to complete passport control at their departure airport, removing the need for additional immigration checks upon arrival.
The first phase is being implemented at Zayed International Airport and Bahrain International Airport, using biometric verification, e-gates and advanced data processing. The initiative is expected to shorten queues and improve passenger flow, and is separate from the wider GCC Unified Travel Visa planned for 2026.
