Unauthorised posting of flyers and posters in public spaces forbidden by Abu Dhabi authorities

Authorities in Abu Dhabi have issued a strong warning against displaying fliers and posters in public areas without permission, and those who do so risk fines of up to Dh4,000. This step is a component of continuous initiatives to protect the city's aesthetic appeal and stop public spaces from being vandalized.

The Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transportation (DMT) reaffirmed on social media that it is legally forbidden to post written or printed items in public areas without permission.

Law No. 2 of 2012, which attempts to safeguard the city's cleanliness, aesthetic appeal, and public safety, is being strictly enforced by the DMT. Clause No. 56 stipulates that materials must be placed on poles, parked cars, or any other public structure with express permission.

Penalties for violations include:

- Dh1,000 for the first offence

- Dh2,000 for the second

- Dh4,000 for third and repeat violations
