The Wage Protection System (WPS) for domestic workers is the official electronic system that the Ministry had implemented, according to confirmation from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE).
Employers are able to pay their domestic workers' salary through banks, exchange houses, and other financial organizations that have been licensed and authorized by the UAE Central Bank to offer wage payment services.
Article 15 of Federal Decree-Law No. (9) of 2022 pertaining to domestic workers states that employers must pay the monthly wage in UAE dirhams within ten working days of the due date.
Advantages of the WPS:
- protects the employer's ability to provide proof of wage payment.
- makes it easier for the employer and domestic worker to transfer wages.
- ensures that wages are paid on schedule.
- encourages a long-lasting partnership between the two sides.
The following are the wage payment options that MOHRE has designated for domestic workers:
The employer contracts with banks, exchange houses, and other approved financial organizations that have been approved by the UAE Central Bank.
Employer-approved financial institutions, banks, and exchange houses offer electronic transfers through smart applications.
