The UAE has granted Starlink a 10-year licence to provide satellite broadband services to individuals, businesses, government entities, and the maritime and aviation sectors.
The TDRA granted the licence under approved regulatory frameworks, adding satellite connectivity to the UAE’s digital infrastructure alongside fibre and 5G networks.
The licence will expand internet access options, strengthen network resilience and continuity, and support critical sectors such as maritime, aviation, energy, logistics and emergency services. It also reflects the TDRA’s focus on flexible regulation, emerging technologies, greater connectivity choices and competition.
The move is expected to improve service quality, customer experience and connectivity, while supporting the UAE’s digital ambitions and attracting global satellite operators.
