Authorities in Abu Dhabi have advised that billboards and signs in the emirate be placed and aesthetically pleasing in accordance with established criteria; those who do not will be subject to heavy fines. It issued a warning that repeat offenders would face compound penalties. This is in keeping with Law No. 2 of 2012, which attempts to preserve Abu Dhabi's public areas' aesthetic appeal, cleanliness, and general quality.
The DMT has posted a message on social media to reaffirm these rules and is actively implementing the law. Citing Article 66 of the legislation, Abu Dhabi DMT wrote in the post that installing or using an advertising sign without a permit or with a permit that has expired would result in fines of Dh 2,000 for the first offense, Dh 4,000 for the second offense, and Dh 8,000 for the third offense and beyond.
Authorities also cautioned that first, second, and subsequent offenders might face fines of Dh2000, Dh4,000, and Dh8,000 for constructing or using a billboard without a valid authorization or with a permit that has expired.
